The purpose of the Mountain
Forum is to provide a forum for mutual support and for the exchange of
ideas and experiences. This will empower participants to raise mountain
issues on local, national, regional, and international agendas and to promote
policies and actions for equitable and ecologically sustainable mountain
development. The basic operational values of the Mountain Forum are to
be open, democratic, decentralized, accessible, transparent, accountable,
and flexible.
